As the title of this entry suggests, today’s meeting of the TMF ‘Data Protection’ working group will demonstrate the possibilities offered by the new gICS Embedded Mode to enable user-friendly and simple documentation of patient consent in research projects and user sites. In other words, how can patient consent be obtained directly in gICS using a commercially available tablet PC.

The presentation will discuss the advantages of direct digital consent compared to paper-based approaches, explain the technical approach and use a live demo to show the path from consent documentation to the real-time transfer of structured information in the latest HL7-FHIR standard of the HL7-D AG Consent Management.
